With the launch of the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, Hyundai N unveils its first mass-production high-performance electric vehicle (EV), creating ripples in the electric vehicle market. Built on the foundation of the Ioniq 5, the winner of the 2022 World Car of the Year, the Ioniq 5 N features innovative technology solutions to deliver unparalleled performance.
This is the third model from Hyundai based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), following the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. The Ioniq 5 N upholds the N brand's three pillars – Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar. It not only represents a significant step in Hyundai's electrification future but also contributes to the overall advancement of electric vehicle technology.
Design
The Ioniq 5 N's design goes beyond mere aesthetics. Every visual element of the model enhances its sportiness, aerodynamics, or braking performance. The N Mask graphic fascia, functional mesh, and three front Active Air Flaps contribute to enhanced brake cooling, while the wing-type rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and air outlet manage airflow for optimal performance.
Inside the car, the interior is inspired by the track. It features racing bucket seats with a lower seating position, ample lateral support, and a steering wheel with four dedicated driving mode buttons. The seats are covered in a pixel pattern and available in two designs: Cloth & Leather and Eco Alcantara & Leather.
Outside, the new high-performance Ioniq N possesses an aggressive stance with its lower and wider body and larger wheels. New bumper designs increase the front and rear length by 25 millimetres and 55 millimetres, respectively. The redesigned front and rear suspension lower the centre of gravity to optimise driveability.
The Ioniq 5 N is available in ten different exterior colours, with two exclusive colours, Performance Blue Glossy and Performance Blue Matte, reserved for the Hyundai N. It also introduces the new Hyundai N accent colour for EVs, Luminous Orange Matte. Sustainability remains a priority for Hyundai, with the use of recyclable and bio-derived materials throughout the car's design.
E-GMP
As the first N brand model based on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP, the Ioniq 5 N benefits from a low centre of gravity and even weight distribution, leading to optimal driveability. The E-GMP’s ultra-fast charging capabilities and the model’s thermal efficiency work together to deliver top track times, adding to customer satisfaction. E-GMP allows individual electric motors to power each axle, ensuring all-wheel drive traction for the new 2024 Ioniq 5 N.
Electric Powertrain
The Ioniq 5 N is powered by an 84.0 kWh battery that delivers a maximum power output of 641 horsepower and 547 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 258 km/h. This powertrain can accelerate the car from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, with its total all-electric range set to be announced a later date.
Hyundai N Pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar

The Everyday Sportscar aspect shines through with features like N e-shift and N Active Sound +, which simulate the feeling of an ICE vehicle, making the drive more engaging. Plus, with the vehicle's large 84.0 kWh battery, fast charging capabilities, generous cargo space, and advanced features like Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, the Ioniq 5 N is truly a practical sports car for everyday use.
